Infrastructure

On your daily commute to work, you drive over a pothole that wears down your tires and makes an otherwise safe street potentially dangerous.  Because of the state of the city's finances, there is a good chance that the pothole will be ignored, or simply filled in, only to re-emerge in another month.

Our economic troubles has severely affected San Diego's ability to consistently preserve our infrastructure.  We have seen much needed state money to pay for road maintenance evaporate because of Sacramento's spiraling deficits. In the city budget, massive cuts have been made from the Capital Improvements Fund.

I propose that the city publishes a five year plan that outlines when these road maintenance issues will be addressed.  This plan will be coordinated with utility companies and street trenching so that newly paved streets are not damaged.  This plan will also be a public record so that residents will be able to have their concerns and questions about city infrastructure answered.
