Issues
We San Diegans understand the phrase "America's Finest City" is not just an advertising ploy. Our city is one of the most beautiful in the world. We are blessed with near-perfect climate, good neighbors, and a peaceful temperament. However, downtown politicians have been guilty of repeatedly making decisions that endanger the very character of our city. We want to be able to drive along safe and clean streets, to have clean water available from our taps. These are not minor issues - they speak to a quality of life that should be available to all San Diegans. We need elected leaders that understand these issues and who will always keep the public good as their primary concern. It is for these reasons that I am running; to represent the people of District Two, putting their needs before special interests. I hope you will join me in this fight.
Public Safety
Due to retirements and pension uncertainties, the San Diego Police Department has lost over 250 officers this year, leaving the size of the force the same as it was in the 1980s, when San Diego's population was hundreds of thousands less than it is today. We are a city of over one million people, and even with such a dire need for police officers, we are not able to fill our police academies.

On your daily commute to work, you drive over a pothole that wears down your tires and makes an otherwise safe street potentially dangerous. Because of the state of the city's finances, there is a good chance that the pothole will be ignored, or simply filled in, only to re-emerge in another month.

We are still suffering from the corrupt backroom decisions of past politicians, with talk resurfacing of the city underfunding the pension AGAIN. San Diego stands dangerously close to financial meltdown, and nobody wants to do anything about it.

Walking the PB boardwalk at sunset. Jogging around Mission Bay. Taking the family down to the Harbor. The very cornerstone of the San Diego experience is built around our incredible natural resources. For posterity, and the future of San Diego as a world-class city, we must be vigilant in protecting our local environment.
